It seems that all the MUA's I use invariably pop up a message which says something like 'Mailbox vulnerable, needs 1777 protection' or something similar. What the heck does this mean? In terms of attributes 1777 means temporary directory, and AFAIK should be used only for directories like /tmp, so obviously that can't be what it means! I've never seen this message before, and it only happens on one machine I use (Red Hat 7, with kernel 2.4.3). The attributes of /var/spool/mail are as I left them on install. It doesn't happen with another machine which has almost the same configuration (2.4.2 kernel, but it happened even before I upgraded the kernel to 2.4.3...even when the box was at 2.2.16, IIRC). -- Rafael R.
