Time-Asia this week announced the availability of the
indian-designed $200.00 Linux PDA-Computer called
"Simputer", designed for use by the great masses
of poor Indians (also of poor Filipinos?). 32MB ram/16mb rom,
no keyboard, but with touch screen and buttons like the
PalmPilot, only slightly bigger in size. Internet ready--
just connect to your phone.
They have a web-site: www.simputer.org. I tried
connecting, but the response was so slow I decided to give up.
