You have to set the mask.
Without setting the mask your system would automatically set file
permissions to 666 and 777 to directories when initially created.
For example, the default valueis 777, and your umask is 770.
the value would be
777
(-)770
____
007 - this would be your default access permission.
To change it just key in
umask nnn (to get your permission)
