I know some "big guys" have chosen to go SuSE, but I tried it and still
prefer Debian. For your particular purpose you may appreciate the
following capabilities of Debian:
1. The packages in the official stable Debian tree, while a little
out-of-date, are guaranteed to be as bug free as the software permits
itself to be, and are setup by default to be secure (rather than setup by
default to be wide open, requiring you to keep checking yourself).
2. You can create your own apt-source with everything you need, and maybe
even already pre-customized for your particular needs. You can also create
task packages so that the setup of a new server can pick up the packages
from your apt-source instead of from the official apt-sources. The task
package will allow you to install just one package with the proper
dependencies which basically installs everything you need for your
servers. Sort of like a standardization for "mass production". :)
