that is true, for LINUX Xwindows say GNOME/KDE desktop is totally
independent from the RPC service (111).
i installed the SOLARIS 2.6 using Entire Distribution mode i.e. with
CDE). when i started cleaning up the services, and i when i disabled
this RPC, i cannot do normal CDE window login anymore but doing a
"command line login" it is possible. then when i enable again the RPC it
works again.
hmm... maybe the Client CDE is dependent on the RPC service...
