You probably don't need it anymore.  It'd be best to disable it from your
startup scripts entirely as it doesn't do anything useful, it just adds to
your bootup time.

In fact, we have a few boxes here at Inter.Net which don't even use any
form of inetd at all.  As I've argued before, there are really only a few
major services that require it.
