In any case, it's terribly strange that in the LAN setup i was debugging,
no matter what i did to the smb.conf file (followed every single Howto i
could get my hands on, restarted smb, it still wouldn't work.  Then i
tried the windows solution on the linux server.  Reboot.  My my my it
worked after that.  Sheesh.  I hate these kinds of mysteries that go away
with a reboot.  Not even a single mysterious line in the smb and messages
log files.

And the mystery continues...
