(Sorry for cross posting this)
Fellow Listers,
As a result of the communications and discussions we are having over at
the linux10 mailing list [a list set up to facilitate discussions on the
planning of the event] we are proud to post a summary of what has been
agreed so far. If you are interested in joining the discussions, please
send 'subscribe' to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
As this is a community contributory effort, your help is always welcome.
==============================================================
Important:
o DATE/VENUE IS FINAL: Since no violent objections were posted, we can now
finally set the date and venue of the event.
***
Saturday, August 25, 2001, from 9AM to 6PM at the premises of the Asia
Pacific College, located at Humabon Place, Magallanes, Makati City.

Other Notes
o According to eric, Orly Andico and Engels Antonio have not responded to
them being 'volunteered' to chair some topics on the list. Could anyone
contact them personally?
o ISSUE: on the length, depth of the talks to be held. Shall these be
held on a big forum, small group/BOF type, or on a case to case basis.
o ISSUE: on the proposed 'audience' of the topics - should newbie topics
outnumber advanced topics?

Task Assignments: [marvin]
Okay, we need to know who will lead this project or maybe who will lead in
preparation to this event. Also, we need to know who are those people who
will work with us PHYSICALLY. I suggest also that we need to form
committees for the said project. The purpose of this is for us to be able
to identify who are the people concerned for the particular functions and
will be able to follow-up them regarding their individual job status. Below
are the committees that I have in mind:
o Program (over-all program of activities)
o Ways & Means (sponsors, venue, hardware, software, etc)
o Physical Arrangement (decorations, hardware installation, rooms,
tables, chairs, etc)
o Records & Recognition (pictures, promotions, press release,
certificates for the speakers, etc)
o Security (attendees, hardware, software, etc)
o Registration - Ian Sison has volunteered to donate an apache/embperl
Based registration program, and Rom Flores was willing to lend his
nametag printer.
==============================================================
FINAL VENUE
o Asia Pacific College Caf & classrooms [Chris Haravata] [100-150pax]
==============================================================
BANDWIDTH
o The APC Venue can donate bandwidth/Meridian Telekoms
o Mar Apuhin can donate his skyinet dialup account for the event
==============================================================
HARDWARE [for the install fests, Exhibits, Registration and CD Replication
Activities]
o As per Chris Haravata, he will ask Raul Ocampo of
SuSE Phils re: Itanium boxes for the exhibit
o Rene Torres/Progressive Ideas offered to loan the following boxes:
3 network-ready computers
1 933MHZ Mandrake 8.0 16x Plextor CD-Writer 128MB RAM,
1 400MHZ Celeron RedHat 7.1 4x CD YAMAHA SCSI CD Writer 128MB
1 300MHZ Mandrake 8.0 Celeron 64MB RAM) and optionally,
and for demo (if there's interest)
1 first generation iMac triple-booting Linux, OS X and Mac OS
Rene will you include a HUB? or can APC provide the physical
ethernet, Chris?
==============================================================
MEDIA COVERAGE
(do you know anyone who can take care of this)
==============================================================
MEMORABILIA
As per Marvin's suggestion, the option for having memorabilia available
for sale during the occasion is a worthwhile endeavor, especially if PLUG
can raise some funds off it in the process. Does anyone want to volunteer
to handle this particular activity?
==============================================================
CD-Replication/burning services activity.
Essentially pooling together of resources [CDs, Hardware, Manpower] so
that people can go home with the Linux/Distro of their choice. So far the
following have signified their intentions of helping in this activity.
o Rene Torres
o Phillip Morales
o Jijo Sevilla
o ACENT
Can we pool our Linux software titles together and make a nice
comprehensive list?
==============================================================
PROGRAMME
It was requested that all presentors should use either StarOffice
Starpresenter or Magic Point when doing their talks. Practice what we
preach.
Some topics are still unconfirmed, or not taken. They are still
made part of this summary because some others may want to volunteer
to chair them. If the topic gets stale long enough they may be
dropped, pursuant to the suggestion of eric rosel.
