For the good of the community I hope it won't. I am thankful I lack sleep. If I
had more energy I might not have been able to resist replying to your other
message with one of my traditionally long tirades.
You're new here zorkdork, and more than a mailing list, PLUG is a community.
You may find it beneficial to read more than you write for at least the initial
part of your stay. Parang sa bagong magkakilala. May tanchahan muna,
pakiramdaman. It is only in knowing about the groove of a community that one
can merge with the group in as seamless and as painless a procedure as possible.
I hope you will take my suggestions to heart. I've been part of the community
since at least 1999, and I've seen and taken part in a number of brutal
flamewars that have taken place because of one or two outspoken newbies with
minds of their own and mouths (uhh, fingers?) that know no limits. Flamewars
hurt the community and waste time and energy. This is not to mention the fact
that these prevent the infusion of the new blood into the group, but instead
divide and cause factions.
With the cooperation of everyone, and most especially the newbie (who we hope
will not gain the ire of those who have been here much longer than he or she),
we can continue to make PLUG a dynamically growing community of Linux
enthusiasts, where we can all exchange ideas and views in as healthy a manner
as possible.
