I compiled nss_ldap and pam_ldap on both Linux (RH7.1 with openldap-2.0.7 libraries) and Solaris 8 SPARC with openldap-2.0.7 from sunfreeware. On Linux with the pam.d config files from the pam_ldap-122 source distribution, I got everything working fairly easily. I had some problems on Solaris8 (which has a bundled NSS/PAM LDAP implementation) but I decided to use PADL's version because I'm more familiar with it and I don't want to use the optional RFC2307 fields which Sun wants. Things didn't work initially (couldn't find libldap and liblber) but crle(1) fixed that. Now everything works well, but on the Sun I cannot finger some accounts (I have ~40,000 accounts in my LDAP server). It seems the lookup is timing out, because accounts near the "front" of the file (first ones added via slapadd) *can* be accessed, but newer ones cannot. This doesn't happen on Linux (all accounts can be fingered). Any insights would be appreciated. -- Orlando Andico <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mosaic Communications, Inc. -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- Version: 3.12 GE d(-) s: a-25 C++++ UBLSI++++$ P+++ L+++>++++ E- W++ N(+) o K? w O-- M- !V PS(++) PE- Y PGP-- t(+)@ 5(+) X++@ R(+) tv@ b++ DI++ G e++@ h--(*) r% y+ ------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------ _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
