Oy! Linux10! August 25, APC. Attend! =)
Doc Mana will do some remarks, and the ACENT gang (Hi William! Hi Gino! Hi Jess!) will
also give a couple talks. Of course there are lots and lots of other people there.. =)
I'm so excited. I can't wait to talk about my beauuuuutiful new PDA running QT...

<impish grin> I don't like to program on Linux.
I _love_ to program on Linux. Having all these little tools (free!) means a lot to me.
I still haven't really decided between vi and emacs (and other editors). I do a lot of
Java development, so Emacs JDE's pretty useful. (Emacs even does CVS!) However, it can
get slow on my 64MB 300MMX laptop, so I use vi for quick and dirty edits - I've mapped
a couple of the function keys, like <F10> for <Esc>:w<CR>:!!<CR>i and I just have to
issue a !javac Foo.java at the beginning.
The cool thing about vim is that it's extremely smart at syntax coloring. Much faster
than emacs, and it handles lots of files - C/C++/Java (even JSP!)/PHP/Perl... shell
scripts, even configuration files... I just love it! =) And it's so good on the
console.
If I could just get Emacs 21 stripped down enough to get it to load as quickly..
