This is sort of a topic that doesn't touch on the usual thread of
discussion, but i was wondering if having a blank entry in the address
book of an e-mail client (such as Outlook) helps prevent the spread of
e-mail based virus and worms?

I have given up using Outlook so I haven't really tried it, but many of
the workstations using Outlook "innocently" spread viruses to everyone
in their address book. Apparently adding a contact without an e-mail
address helps prevent the sending out of the email to everyone in the
address book as it takes advantage of the failure in Outlooks Send All
capability.

If anyone is willing to try it, do give me feedback.

Thanks.
