If you can't find it in the /var/log/messages or even in /var/log/squid/* log 
files, that's probably because you have not created the /var/log/squid 
directory where the squid log files go...even if you did create it, will the 
squid daemon be able to create the log files there?...an absence of log files 
in the logfile directory (as specified in the squid.conf file) may be due to 
permission problem -- was it suid to nobody?
