Hmm.. XFce is snappy, and it's Gtk-based (I'm allergic to Qt!) but it's
extremely minimalistic! the pager is butt-ugly. The panel icons are
butt-ugly too (they should've "stolen" the professionally-designed Eazel
icons).

Well.. by comparison, XFce and friends consumes about.. *gasp* 15MB of
RAM. GNOME 1.4 by comparison eats.. 130MB or so. That's including
Super-Bloatware Nautilus though. And the GNOME desktop has lots more
functionality.. taskbar, ICQ..
