How about applying `chgrp' _recursively_? I think there's a script included
in the mailman package that will check for permissions. Try to look for it.

i run configure using the following line.
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mailman --with-python=/usr/bin/python --with
-mailgid=mailman --with-cgi-id=apache
also have done..
cd $prefix
chgrp mailman .
chmod a+rx,g+ws .
my /etc/group
mailman:x:501:mailman,allan
any ideas on how to solve this problem?
