I'm using Debian Potato 2.2r3. I had X setup and WindowMaker running. Didn't find WindowMaker convenient so I had gnome installed. The problem is that WindowMaker boots but I don't see my gnome desktop and panel. I decided to edit the .xsession/.xinitrc files. This is what I get when I ls -ao at the user directory: total 60 drwxr-sr-x 8 toto 4096 Sep 7 21:00 . drwxrwsr-x 3 root 4096 Sep 4 21:53 .. -rw------- 1 toto 0 Sep 5 06:22 .ICEauthority -rw------- 1 toto 0 Sep 5 06:22 .Xauthority -rw-r--r-- 1 toto 266 Sep 4 21:53 .alias -rw------- 1 toto 63 Sep 5 06:22 .bash_history -rw-r--r-- 1 toto 174 Sep 4 21:53 .bash_logout -rw-r--r-- 1 toto 373 Sep 4 21:53 .bash_profile -rw-r--r-- 1 toto 504 Sep 4 21:53 .bashrc -rw-r--r-- 1 toto 375 Sep 4 21:53 .cshrc -rw------- 1 toto 16 Sep 4 22:18 .esd_auth drwx--S--- 7 toto 4096 Sep 5 06:22 .gnome drwxr-sr-x 2 toto 4096 Sep 4 22:18 .gnome-desktop drwxr-sr-x 2 toto 4096 Sep 4 22:18 .gnome-help-browser drwx------ 2 toto 4096 Sep 4 22:18 .gnome_private drwxr-sr-x 2 toto 4096 Sep 5 06:22 .mc -rw------- 1 toto 0 Sep 4 22:10 .xsession-errors drwxr-sr-x 4 toto 4096 Sep 4 21:57 GNUstep Where's the .xsession/.xinitrc files? I'm stumpped. Any guidance will be most helpful. A. Inion _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
