Believe me, I have tried that and other things. The problem is that
without the Windows truetype fonts being installed on your Linux box, or
possibly better mapping to them, that the PDF looks great on the screen
under Linux, but on Windows screens has a bad case of the jaggies. The
fact that many people seem to be trying to use these fonts under Linux
tells me that I am not alone in wanting to improve the portability of my
documents.
Yes, printing under Windows looks great. But not the screen.
The HTMLDOC does a good job and more; it also can build a Table of
Contents based on your HTML markup. It was really written for making
books from HTML pages.
For a person who knows HTML, it is a pretty good way to make PDF's and
maybe PDF ebooks.
