Hello,

I had this problem before and fixed it by upgrading to the version 4.X of the
XFree86. (Kind of shotgun approach but, I did not have the time to spend to
track down the driver shortcommings. At any rate XFree86 4.x is much better
all around than XFree86 3.3.x.)

By default, RH6.2 uses 3.3.6 if I recall correctly. I was using the 4.01 on
RH6.2 until RH7.1 came out. I have since upgraded to RH7.1 and my interface
is much better. An added bonus is the GNOME and KDE versions in RH7.1 are
much better than their counterparts in RH6.2. (If you go move to RH7.1 don't
forget to load up the updates that Redhat provides at updates.redhat.com for
RH7.1. There are quite a bit, so select what you feel you need, or be
prepared to spend quite a bit of time downloading.)

If you have free truetype fonts originally designed for windows, that you
would like to use in your desktop, check out the FDU (Xfree86 font
deuglification) mini howto. Alternately, you can purchase fonts off the
internet too.
