What practical differences? I'm just curious. I did a ping comparison, pinging
127.0.0.1 and 192.168.0.1 from the machine that is both IP addresses. I ran ping with
"-c 100" and here are the summary information:
--- 127.0.0.1 ping statistics ---
100 packets transmitted, 100 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 0.0/0.0/0.1 ms
--- 192.168.0.1 ping statistics ---
100 packets transmitted, 100 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 0.0/0.0/0.1 ms
This looks like a tie, if you ask my eyes. Is it possible that this is because of some
improvements in the 2.4 kernels? I'm using 2.4.9.
