Hmmm...by any chance are you running sendmail in debug
mode, ala sendmail -d 15 ?
i'm not so sure about outlook express, but netscape
messenger doesn't really appreciate the debugging
output sendmail spews out -- in other words it reports
errors whenever it gets a response from the
server(debug output) that it does not expect.
