I said to myself... "how did this jerks in mandrake compile the kernel
in the first place?" so I do dmesg... and it says that they used egcs to
compile the kernel.

I edited /usr/src/linux/Makefile

HOSTCC          = gcc    I changed to...
HOSTCC          = egcs

and

CC              = $(CROSS_COMPILE)gcc   I changed to...
CC              = $(CROSS_COMPILE)egcs

I don't get those cute colored warnings anymore, but I was finally able
to compile the kernel and modules, and I didn't get any of those depmod
errors after "make module_install"

"make install" doesn't work so well anymore either.
