Well, zone transfers are the accepted IETF standard. If Mr. Bernstein doesn't like it, well, let him submit his proposals to the IETF and write up an RFC. If it gets accepted, BIND will try to support it as well, and everyone can interoperate better. Whether or not DJB's methods are superior to the Internet standards are not the point. The point is TSIG, DNSSEC, AXFR, IXFR, and so forth are the Internet standards and part of the core DNS protocols, and if he continues to refuse to support these standards, he is harming the cause of Internet interoperability, and you are contributing to this, if you decide to use his software. -- Rafael R.
