I installed XF86_SVGA from xfree-3.3.6 on my Dell CPI D300XT
notebook, and I am able to run it at 1024x768 (at 8 or 16 bpp).
I am very happy with this setup. Now when I close the unit
without shutting down X (linux still running of course), the
unit goes into power-saving mode and puts the unit into "sleep".
When I open up the unit, the system tries to restore the X screen
but for some reason, all I get is video "noise". On the other hand,
if I go to one of the virtual terminals (ctrl-alt-f2) before closing
the unit, then when I open up the unit, the virtual terminal is
successfully restored, and from there I could get X back with Alt-f7.
Has anyone experienced the same problem?

By the way, the unit dual boots Win98/Linux, and there is no
problem when the unit is in Win98 mode (I share the unit with my
daughter, who needs Word and Powerpoint).
