thanks for your reply, dido!

so you mean that ext3 filesystem is easier to configure/manage than
the reiserfs? im still reading some stuffs on advanced filesystems and
i really cannot speak for myself on it.

how about 2.4.13-rh7.2 combo? any good/bad observations? i think in
the 2.4.13 kernel, we still need to have it patched to support ext3
filesystems (pls correct me if im wrong).

thanks all!

<orly and jijo, thanks for your help in kernel configs> =)

While I'm still using 7.1 on my laptop, I have gotten the latest
patches
for ext3 to my kernel and have been using them quite happily.
Migration
was quite painless to say the least, and it took all but a few moments
of my time. I haven't tried to do serious benchmarking on it yet, but
I
have the feeling that speed-wise ext3 will probably be comparable in
performance to ext2.

Reiserfs looks like the future, but frankly I don't think it's
entirely
stable at this point...Until I can get tools that can
non-destructively
convert existing ext2 partitions to reiserfs I doubt that I'll be
using
it any time soon... Hard disks are also in short supply; I find I
wind
up using most of my money to get "other things"...
