I have RedHat 6.2 installed on my system. I have been trying to update
my rpm (from version 3) to version 4 by installing
rpm-4.0.2-6x-i386.rpm. I first installed db3 (db3-3.1.17-4.6x.i386.rpm),
then did a "rpm -rebuilddb", then a "rpm -ivh rpm-4.0.2-6x-i386.rpm" And
now, as I try to install glibc 2.2.4 via rpm (I bought RedHat 7.2 cds),
I get, among other messages, conflicts. The thing is, the conflicts are
with rpm-4.0.2 and db3-3.1.17-4.6.

Has anyone encountered this before? This rpm update is still bothering
me after more than 5 complete reinstalls in the hopes that I just missed
something during install. Apparently not.

The error message is the ff.:

    glibc-common = 2.2.4-13 is needed by glibc-2.2.4-13
    glibc-devel < 2.2.3 conflicts with glibc-2.2.4-13
    glibc > 2.1.3 conflicts with db3-3.1.17-4.6x
    glibc >= 2.1.92 conflicts with rpm-4.0.2-6x
