i wrote a little SCADA server for a class last semester. the code is available
at my website but it is pretty crufty because it was tailored to our
particular problem. (room automation includes lights, airconditioner, sounds
and their corresponding sensors). the server is controllable via TCP/IP and
uses PAM authentication. it also has a built in MP3 player and audio mixer
manipulation routines. also included is a RTU (ready-to-use) parallel
port library.

just tell me what you think. however, since the class is over i have
little time to work on it anymore. although, some friends in the Manila
Observatory are going to use it for a controlled/experimental setup
(controllers and sensors for experimentation).
