I've read about some 3d UIs, but I've never really tried it. I remember
coming across a study once that said that we actually are more into 2D
UIs than 3D UIs. The line of reasoning included the fact that our eyes
are positioned facing forward, unlike frog's eyes which can watch a
great deal more space at a time. Logically it makes sense that as long
as our interface is 2D, 2D UIs will definitely have a place. =)

3D would be fun if our interface was more intuitive. <g> I suck at
Quake. 

Actually, if we could get virtual reality really working - I'd love
to walk around with one of those HUDs beaming a screen into my eye..
There have been some projects like wearcomp.org that propose 'mediated
reality' - looks promising...
