Hmm... this shouldn't be the case. It's ultra-snappy here. Perhaps it could have something to do with your IMAP daemon? Have you tried accessing your mail via your IMAP daemon but using some other MUA? If it's snappy there but takes forever with IMP, then it could be something else. I'm using Courier-IMAP with Maildirs here and users are happy with the performance of the webmail system. Also, what kind of load is the server going through? And how clogged is the disk I/O?
