I think the orientation does not matter. I have seen some compaq desktops where the harddisk is installed sideways. I have some harddisks where I installed the HDD head first on the bottom of the peecee. As for an authoritative source, seagate in their website have mentioned that the HDD's orientation does not affect the operation or performance of the hard disk. regards, --- Andre M.
