To Dek and Argg of #PLUG; I think I have finally solved my Gnome and filesystem error problems that I discussed on PLUG and IRC. The culprit was DMA which Dek correctly pointed out. At first I only disabled DMA on my /dev/hda and that solved my file system errors. However, another problem came up. This time it was on Gnome's start up wherein it would freeze and lockup even before the Gnome Panel appears. I found out that it wasn't enough that I set /dev/hda to disable DMA but I had to disable DMA on /dev/hdb and /dev/hdc (CD-ROM) as well. All these DMA errors, I think, were caused by the fact that I have a mobo (TX Chipset) that can handle UDMA 33 but only I am not using UDMA cables. And since UDMA is enabled by default in the kernel (starting RH 7.x) and I am not using the proper cables and Gnome tries to access the CD-ROM on startup, then I had to have problems :). Am I right in my theory?
