If your program will have access to environment variables, the LOGNAME environment variable normally contains this bit of information. I'm curious, though: how do you expect your program to have access to per-user environment variables if Sendmail will be calling this program? Perhaps you may want to let us in on exactly what you want to achieve with this program of yours.
