I'm trying to boot the RH7.2 disc on an IBM Thinkpad iSeries Laptop. A
"boot failed" error always happens everytime I try to use the CD. Even a
bootable floppy (through rawrite) didn't work.

So I booted using a windows 98 bootdisk and used Loadlin, trying to load to
RAM:

    E:\DOSUTILS\> loadlin autoboot\vmlinuz root=/dev/ram rw
initrd=autoboot\initrd.img

It always stops at

 Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs

I used the same loadlin command the last time I installed linux on the
laptop, but I was using a RH6.2 disc then.

I tried different variations of the loadlin command and also used different
RH discs, even RH7.1. Still the same error.

Help!  And thanks :)

So computers are tools of the Devil? thought Newt. He had no problem
believing it. Computers had to be the tools of _somebody_, and he knew for
certain that it definitely wasn't him.
