ntop is definitely one of the best applications out there. But it really
depends on how much you want to log and how strict the logging is.

You can use a variety of tools. Currently, I'm using ipfm to monitor per
host bandwidth usage behind a NAT box. It can't specify what exactly to
monitor unlike ntop, but its simple to use and straightforward. ntop can
log too much, sometimes, and I can't seem to control how it logs (better
read the docs).

MRTG is also nice, but I don't think it stores/archives data. It graphs
them over a period of time. MHTG is used for individual hosts, but
you'll need a something that speaks netflow.

Then of course you can always use netflow/netramet and the like, but
these will require some level of know how.
