It's possible that your machine is going into sleep mode at the hardware
level, and your Linux distribution isn't set up to handle this.  Go into
your system BIOS setup program, and make sure power-management features
are disabled.  (This is just for diagnostic purposes.  I'm not saying
Linux-Mandrake can't be configured to work with such features.)

It's also possible that you have a spot of bad RAM, or are inadvertantly
running your motherboard (or RAM) outside its design specs.  You may
want to run memtest86 (to check your RAM), and might consider using the
feature in your system BIOS setup program to return your motherboard's
timing (and other) settings to factory defaults (which are always
conservative).

Last, it's possible that there might be something at the very end of
/var/log/messages, at the time of reboot, that might tell you something
useful about the problem's origin.
