If you are using Red Hat 7.2, there's a bug that causes mount failures on
certain IDE cdroms. If this would be the problem, the solution is to enter
a "depmod -ae" command as root. BTW, this problem sometimes cause
instability. It can also be fixed using the latest kernel update from Red
Hat.
