hey jess! musta na? i havent gotten my feet enough yet to make a comparison or review...but it looks very promising indeed. remember the time i was looking for a lean and mean distro? well, this looks just like the thing. you still need an iso to install, or at least a network server to hold the install files. the smallest is 16MB, and biggest iso is 100+ MB. the install to a window system took me around nearly a day to build and install. still, it feels snappier..but dont take my word for it. heheh. i suggest personal experience.
still, we do a lot of coding in C, perl, php and python, and i want to see if the optimisations could help improve performance. mind you though, it's not really lean. i have Xwindows, gnome, compiled my kernel, development stuff, wine, mozilla and the usual stuff i need (net utils) and i already use 1.3GB. config files at /etc are mixed. the /etc/rc.conf reminds me of slackware but /etc/init.d sound red hat to me. no chkconfig <servicename> <on/off> though. i'm still hunting for that enable command equivalent. a lot of it's packages however, are very new, which makes it a bit exciting to tinker around with. will be back for more comments after i play around with it more. regards, --vince.
