This is a perfect example of mail that should be in the main PLUG list instead of in PLUG-Misc so I'm replying to the more appropriate forum.

I have successfully worked out printing from a Linux client to a Linux print server but both had CUPS (the server had the CUPS server software, the client only had the client software; they're separate packages in Debian, I do not know about RedHat). I have not tried using non-CUPS clients. Printing seems to be straightforward enough. From applications like OpenOffice I get an expected dropdown with a list of all printers available in the CUPS network (we have two printers spread out on two Linux boxes, both using CUPS of course). From the command line I simply use lp(1) command and have successfully sent PostScript and PDF files direct for printing. Note that the lp application is part of the CUPS client package. --> Jijo -- Federico Sevilla III : <http://jijo.free.net.ph/> Network Administrator : The Leather Collection, Inc.
