summary of my problems:

with star office 5.2: i cant open the MSoffice files from a vfat
directory. i copy the files to my home dir and open it from there. then
copy the file back to vfat dir as i update it.

with open office 1.0: i can open MSoffice files from my vfat dir but
xls files are being opened with 0.01" as the row height. adjusting the row
hgieht of a 100kb xls file hangs up my machine.

my work around:
1. copy all xls from vfat to my /home
2. use SO 5.2 to open my xls files,
3. save them as .sdc files
4. use Open Office1.0
5. and get rid of MSoffice.

any better idea?

thnks,
karl
