Tech Talks, Exhibit Mark IT Month Celebration

In celebration of the information technology (IT) month, the National
Computer Center (NCC) is holding a five-day exhibit and a series of
technical talks from 24 ? 28 June 2002 from 8 AM to 5 PM at the NCC
Building, CP Garcia Ave. UP Diliman Q. C.

Dubbed as ?Make it Easy with ICT?, the event will showcase the latest
technologies and solutions offered by leading ICT companies.

For the opening ceremonies, Science and Technology Undersecretary
Fortunato T. dela Pe�a and NCC Director General Delfin Jay M. Sabido IX
will facilitate the ribbon cutting to unveil the exhibit.

The technical talks will feature several relevant ICT topics: ?EMC?s
Infostructure?, ?Business Critical Computing in the 21st Century?,
?Enabling Government Solutions?, ?Technology Trends and Updates to Watch
Out For?, ?VSat Connectivity and E-Learning?, ?Data Storage Trends?  and
?Java in E-government?.

On the other hand, a whole-day ?Open Source Bazaar? shall be held on
June 26, with discussions on topics such as ?Open Education? , ?Open
Source on Health Care? , ?The Business Case for Linux? , ?Installing Red
Hat Linux 7.3?, ?Introduction to Open Source Applications? and ?Why Open
Source Software?? .

The culminating activity of the week-long ICT celebration will be the
lecture cum press conference dubbed as ?Once a Month sa NCC?. Sponsored
by ICT firm K2ia, this month?s topic is ?Government Services on the
Web?, and will discuss how the Internet can be an effective tool for
public service delivery. The guest speakers for the lecture are former
NCC head and Moscom President Dr. William T. Torres and K2ia Managing
Director Reuben J. Ravago.

The event is open to the public, free of charge. For registration and
