i've got
opera 6.01, build 175, no java
running on Mandrake 8.2 with a modified kernel (2.4.18-16mdk
plus preempt and win4lin patches).
ever since 6.0x came out (since TP1, actually), i've noticed
that opera sometimes doesn't honor the global:
File | Preferences | Multimedia | Images
settings when i tell it to use only cached images and not download
new ones. when i surf on over to other sites (e.g., washingtonpost.com)
i find that new windows (opened via "open in background"). after a
bit more testing, i can verify that this only happens with "open
in new window" and "open in background". if the current window
is already set to "Show", and not "Load", then clicking on a link
just opens up the link in the same window but the images setting
does not change.
this is with javascript on and off. and i don't have java
support in the kernel, so that's not it.
any ideas? i'd ask google, but i'm afraid i don't know how to
set up the google query on this one.
