I "successfully" (hit-and-miss) got GNOME 2.0 to install. Actually it's not 2.0 but an RC. I got it from people.redhat.com in Havoc Pennington's file area.
Anyway, Dek, you are right -- Nautilus 2.0 is one heck of a lot faster. Much faster! and the antialiased fonts are nice! and the GNOME Control Center lives inside Nautilus now! and the login screen looks like XP! :) The only wrinkle is, a LOT of apps haven't been ported to GNOME 2.0 yet (e.g. GIMP). But my problem is, I can't see my M$ fonts (Verdana, etc). They are visible when I type "xlsfonts" so X sees them. But GNOME 2 doesn't see them. I tried editing the /etc/X11/XftConfig file, but so far nothing.. --- Orlando Andico <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mosaic Communications, Inc. _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
