Proxy servers should be fast on disk and I/O first, then on memory and CPU second. Suggestion: Promise Fasttrack 100TX IDE controller running JBOD (just a bunch of disks) 1 x 20GB 5400 RPM IDE drive connected to mainboard (for OS) 2 x 80GB UDMA 100, 7200RPM IDE Hard disks, each one connected to a single IDE bus on the promise controller 512MB RAM Athlon/Duron 800++Mhz (AMDs give more bang/megahertz!) > > 4. For content filtering, you need to use dansguardian, which is much better than squidGuard. > > 5. Broadband Vs.
