hi everyone, we have this weird setup with another network wherein they have an unencrypted FTP server at a non-standard port. let's just say that they chose port 2021 for this ftp server.
the problem is that our internal hosts masqueraded by a linux PC could not FTP to that server. anothe problem is that the ftp server does not support passive FTP; it only accepts active FTP. is there a way to implement iptables tricks on the masquerading linux PC so that our internal hosts can FTP actively? i've noticed that the other port used by the remote FTP server is 2020 (in contrast, the original port is 21 and then the data port is 20). or is ip_conntrack_ftp only tuned to listen to port 21 and nothing else? thanks, -andre _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
