Even for ATA100 drives it seems?!? I don't get it. And accdg. to this article, VIA's onboard ATA controller sucks terribly. Anyway, it certainly doesn't seem like these higher bandwidth ATA specs are useless. While the drive mechanism itself may not be able to pump out enough bandwidth to max out the interface, the cache memory on the hard disk (which are quite large nowadays) will. _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
