Inadvisable, IMHO. > We might also try AbiWord on Gnome 2.0 sometime. AbiWord is really fast even > in Gnome 1.4. The only thing that's keeping me from using Abiword before were > the ugly fonts. I have AbiWord 0.9.6 and have issues reading M$ Word files. To see what was going on, I ran it from an X terminal so I could see the error or warning messages. Not that seeing them helped, couldn't understand them. In any event, the fonts on my copy are OK. FreeBSD 4.6 with XFree86 v4.2.0 I also have KOffice, similar issues. Wondering about WordPerfect, w/c I'd have to pay for since my use would be "non-commercial" (i.e., I'm paid for what I write). Hmm, just checked the WP site and there's academic edition although I can't find prices. Interestingly enough, there's a Web demo w/c probly requires a Java-enabled browser. Might be worth looking into as well. Mabuhay. _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
