Anyone familiar enough with the technical implementations of these 2 to comment on how reliable they are as an interface for HDDs and CD/DVD drives?
How do they compare to SCSI and IDE? Do they at least offer the advantages that SCSI has over IDE? And lastly, how well does Linux support these 2 interfaces? It seems likely that USB 2.0 and/or Firewire based HDDS and CD/DVD drives will be the next wave and are likely to have the economies of scale that SCSI devices have lacked. The question is, are we giving up anything when we migrate to either of these 2 new interfaces? _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
