it's looking for mysql.sock in /tmp (which is the
default location), look for mysql.sock in
/usr/local/mysql/etc or somewhere then start mysqld
with the --socket=path option
(i.e ./safe_mysqld
--socket=/usr/local/etc/mysql/mysql.sock or the path
where it can find mysql.sock do man safe_mysqld for
more options)
i think there is a better way of doing this during
configure time or im not sure if there are some files
to edit, im not using mysql anymore
