I do not know how good they are, but there's OAV from the OpenAntivirus[1] project, which is written in Java, and ClamAV[2] which is written in C and is POSIX compliant, using the OAV data files. These should work with AMaViS[3] or some generic "scanner interface" for MTAs. You asked for a free antivirus program, but if you're willing to spend a little for a commercial one like these, they should work with either AMaViS (in the case of at least McAfee uvscan and Sophos Sweep), or with the popular MTAs directly (in the case of at least Kaspersky-Labs AV).
