just adding my dos sentimos....
it is a common belief that big/pretigious companies is equal to a big
salary range. i think the main factors involved are availability of a
sustaining job and the cost of living on a certain area. IT
professionals here in the metropolis might be getting bigger salaries
but the cost of living here makes that salary just enough to get by and
by. i am from the province and given the chance of working there for a
job that could provide enough to support my would-be family, i would
gladly exchange it for my job here in manila. the problem is that in our
province its either the companies have no allocations for an IT
department or they already have enough personnel. i want to stay in the
province but im afraid IT is the only thing i know how to earn a decent
living (technically i could survive through farming but im not built for
that kind of tasks and given the conditions of the agricultural status
in our province, it isnt enough to even send a child through his
education).
i work for a multi-national japanese company but my wage is just enough
to co-maintain the apartment that i am living in with my family. i know
somebody working at a big national company and yet their whole it
department is getting peanuts.
i think im making a point here but i dont know if im delivering it...
