Personally I use Blackbox. It is small, simple, fast, acts and looks a lot like Wmaker but is entirely written in C++. The menu is highly customizable, and the lack of graphical icons prevents desktop clutter. So if you value simplicity and speed, choose Blackbox. If you want fancy stuff like wallpapers, stick with Wmaker.
Original message: Hi all, I'm planning to depart from my KDE desktop environment and try to make my own custom one. As I understand, one needs to start with a certain window manager, and then build his/her desktop domain from there. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, my question now is, what are your recommendations as window managers? What do you personally use? Thanks! -- Joon Guillen _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
